About
Hi there, my name is Sheema Khan. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO). I have obtained my M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University, completed an MBA from York University.
Counselling Psychology is a pivot in career for me. I have had an extensive 20-year career as a corporate professional working for large organizations in Sales and Marketing and had the immense pleasure to lead high performing teams. This experience has taught me that leading, coaching and mentoring became the part of my job that I enjoyed the most.
As I leaned into my leadership journey, it was clear that mental wellness and overall health of an individual was very much linked to performance and productivity and overall wellbeing. And because of that, I showed up differently for my team and for myself. To be an effective leader, coupled with my curiosity and quest to continue learning about mental health, a new journey started for me. One that allowed me think outside of my business focused education and experience in corporate and pivot to a career that is both fascinating and fulfilling to me.
I am a client centered therapist. What that means is that I am focused on delivering high quality service with the approach that best serves your needs. As we grow and change, so do our needs and that means support can look different from session to session. You are the expert in you and my role is to ensure I am creating the space and ability for you to use your voice.
I am passionate about self-help and healing and a strong advocate for mental health awareness, both in and out of the workplace. I have a great deal of experience dealing with issues such as workplace stress and burnout, depression, anxiety, conflict management, career transitions among many other looks forward to supporting you in your journey.
My modalities include: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Culturally-Responsive Care, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, Psychoanalytic, and Solution Focused Therapy.
