About
Psychological pain and distress impact every aspect of our daily lives, relationships and self-concept, which is often what gives us the courage to pursue the counselling process. You have already taken the hardest step. By exploring your sociocultural identities and life experiences through a culturally-respectful, non-judgmental lens, I strive to guide clients on a collaborative journey of self-compassion and finding meaning in your unique story.
Using a person-centered, emotion-focused approach, empathy will set the tone for our sessions as we reflect on the path that you have taken and create a vision for the one that lies ahead. By co-discovering your strengths and resiliency, we will begin to build new skills and goals on a foundation of healing and hope. It is an honor for me to be bear witness to your journey, and I will respect it as yours to lead.
I have a specialized interest in working with parents during the perinatal and postpartum period as they navigate shifts in self-identity, family relationships and broader social constructs, while reflecting on the former and future versions of themselves. I also bring personal experience to supporting families through infertility and loss using a trauma-informed approach.
My sociocultural identity is formed from my Chinese ethnic identity, and I also have lived experience as a biracial, bicultural individual. Additionally, I have lived experience supporting neurordiverse and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and strive to understand the impact of carrying these identities through ongoing collaboration and learning within these communities.
My modalities include: Person-Centered, Humanistic, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
