About
It takes courage to be vulnerable and open up about the most intimate parts of our lives
with a psychotherapist. My goal is to create a judgement-free environment to foster this
courage and support you in your journey of healing and growth. I strive to reduce stigma
against mental illness and addictions in South Asian and Muslim populations. I am
extremely passionate about reducing intergenerational transmission of unhelpful behaviors
to build more resilient communities.
I have been working as a mental health and addictions clinician for the past five years and
have supported clients through various challenges they have experienced in their life. I meet clients where they are at in terms of their goals and readiness for change. Some
addictions I specialize in treating include substance use issues, problem gambling, hyper
sexuality, video gaming addiction and technology overuse.
I use an integrated approach to providing psychotherapy that is rooted in a client-centered,
socially just and culturally sensitive approach. Some of the evidence-based
psychotherapeutic approaches I use include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical
Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy,
Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
My modalities include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, Culturally-Responsive Care, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy and Islamic Integrated Therapy.
