About
My name is Awaiz Artani, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist with College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I have Masters in Psychology and experience working with Mental Health and Addictions.
I have worked as a Psychologist prior to this, for a few years, in a Rehabilitation setting, helping clients with Psychotic Symptoms due to substance use. I also have worked in different settings, helping clients with various mental health issues including anxiety and depression.
I believe that every mind has a different key to unlock its potential and I adapt my approach in a culturally appropriate manner. I enjoy working with immigrants and the South Asian community in particular, and helping clients overcome challenges related to resettlement.
I specialize in the areas of anxiety, depression, stress, substance abuse, and cultural issues. For me, therapeutic alliance is the key to change, which is achieved by an empathetic and non-judgemental approach. I also strongly believe that decreasing the power differential and addressing stigmas related to mental health is very important to bring the change.
My modalities include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Based Therapy, Mindfulness Based Interventions and Solution-Focused Therapy.
